2025-26 Competitive Programs

The Highwood Current Swim Club remains committed to providing the best possible experience for our members, with consistent opportunities for growth and development throughout the non-typical season we are facing.

With the on-going BSRC facility expansion, our upcoming season will look different from previous years, as we do our best to access alternative spaces and training options for all of our swimmers.

September

We will begin our season at the BSRC, brushing up skills and getting our "feel" for the water back

Dryland training will begin at the BSRC

October* - mid January

Pool training will take place at the Okotoks Recreation Centre (C1-5) & Seton YMCA (C4-5, Monday mornings)

Dryland training
for all groups will continue to take place at the BSRC (Fieldhouse and Studio) - this will be an integral part of the season, and we plan to bring in new training modalities to complement swimmers' movement skills (and keep things fun!)

Training schedules will be different from a "typical" season, as we implement Friday afternoons (2:00-4:00 PM) at ORC for those able to attend. Families may need assistance with car-pooling, which we will endeavour to assist with arranging; Public school students will be provided with an alternative option for non-PD days

* We have  made a request to start our bookings in Okotoks / Seton in October, but are awaiting confirmation. Space is confirmed for November, and we are optimistic that the October time will be approved.

January - April

Upon the BSRC re-opening:

C1 will be based at BSRC, with some "special" occasional practices at ORC

C2-5 will have sessions in both the BSRC pool and the ORC pool

C5 will continue to swim at Seton (Monday am's), as well as ORC & BSRC.

Dryland will take place at BSRC, or on deck following pool practices

* As with each season, we will make arrangements for May-June once the facilities open their Spring/Summer bookings.

We do expect some schedule fluctuations as we respond to uncertain facility closure / re-opening date. Currently, the Town of High River anticipates a pool closure form November 11 - December 09 - however, these dates may shift.

We will be making use of non-traditional pool availability, for those swimmers who do not have school Friday afternoons. Not to worry, we will also have alternatives available for our FSD38 students who aren't able to attend on Fridays - but we will encourage attendance on PD days.

CAR POOLING IS ENCOURAGED - we are creating tools to assist with this!

Due to challenges with facility availability, you will see that some of our groups are scheduled to swim on Sundays later this season.

To parents & families: transparency and communication will be the foundation of our operations. We strive to be as flexible as possible, and ask that parents reach out to Coach Cara with any questions or concerns that arise as we navigate the season.

Flexibility and patience will be key to the success of our swimmers this season.
